Recently the Ukrainian market has gained a reputation for its fertile ground soil for developing new projects. A key information resource in the sphere of Internet projects made a list of Top-5 Ukrainian Internet startups in 2011.
All these Top-5 projects were selected by the Expert Council which consisted of top-managers of Ukrainian Internet companies, experienced entrepreneurs and field-specific investors (see the members of the Expert Council here).
According to the voting results the “Startup of the Year” winners are the following:
Zakaz.UA is a service of delivering products from supermarket stores. Its main highlight is photographing technology. By means of special devices it allows making pictures of thousands of products on supermarket shelves in a quick and cheap way. As the result they have pictures of real products, not pictures from photo stocks.
As of today there are about 20 employees in Zakaz.UA and its services are used by several thousands of Kiev dwellers every month. In future Zakaz.UA is planning to cover the regions and then go abroad.
The project founder is the entrepreneur Egor Anchishkin. He was one of the originators of a well-know Viewdle Project which allows performing video search and recognizing faces on images. The first investor into Zakaz.UA was Aleksandr Olshanskiy, President of InternetInvest Holding (Imena.UA, Mirohost.net, Ashmanov and Partners Ukraine, etc)
Online constructor of mobile applications aimed at the owners of small and medium businesses. KitApps offers a simple step-by-step process of creating a mobile application in 3 steps without any help of professional developers and designers. The Project’s basis is the platform with templates tailored for specific peculiarities of different industries. Nowadays there is a possibility to create applications for different events by means of KitApps. In the nearest future such templates will be available for restaurants, hotels, real estate agencies, news sites and other businesses. This year the Project has received its first investor. The founder of KitApps is Artiom Yaremchuk. 10 people are involved into working process with this service. CiscoSystems, KGS Global, Euroindex, AdamSmithConferences, UFI.org and many others are among its clients.
This is the service of printing books on request founded by Denis Oleynikov who has become famous now even outside online territory. The work of this Project was paralyzed because of the well-known events, but in spite of this its activity has been revived, though outside Ukraine. But this Project started in our country and Denis still believes that some day the Project will keep on working here.
Automated system for recording employee working hours, which allows defining the ways of increasing efficiency, optimizing time expenditures in a company, as wells as controlling the working process remotely. It consists of an online service and client application which keep track of the time at certain websites, applications and software types (either related to an employee’s work or “time killers” as social networks, IM-services, etc).
This is the service of online registration and sale of electronic tickets and badges for events. The only thing organizers have to do is to install a special widget on their website and all the rest will be done by TicketForEvent. This service allows accepting payments in many different ways and reading printed e-tickets at the entrance by means of special software. Since June 2011 this service has been used by 275 events around the world. The Project’s founder is ExpoPromoGroup Company, which has been backed up by Decarta Capital Fund with $1 million at the start of this year.
