According to Lilia Kukharchuk, a creator of the first Ukrainian trademark of children’s and teens’ wear “Para Solo”, Ukrainian market of fashion children’s wear has a great potential. Market turnover in Ukraine makes about 50-60 billion UAH ($ 6-7.5 billion).
Herewith the demand grows annually by 10-20%; however, clothes by national producers make as little as 10-15% of the market.
Today the following western retail brands of children’s wear are represented in Ukraine: Mexx, MissSixty, Zara, United Colors of Benetton, etc.
Among the other success factors for our national children’s wear Lilia Kukharchuk names the larger audience that could be seized by this market in comparison, for instance, with women’s clothing segment. This is due to the fact that, as a rule, parents with higher than average income are geared to purchase in medium-class shops of children’s wear. “But if to say about women’s clothing – the rules are met rigorously. If people have medium incomes, they are purchasing in medium-class shops, when they gain higher than average salaries and belong to VIP-segment, and then they buy clothes of VIP-class. Concerning children’s wear the state of the things is not so complicated,” – a designer explains.
