According to the estimates made by Aleksandr Olshanskiy, General Director of Imena.ua, the volume of non-cash payments in UAnet makes up $200 mln. per year and in 2011 this volume substantially doubled. And this is only the small part of the sales volume in the Ukrainian internet shops, since they are usually paid as-received in cash.
In total, as it has been estimated by Focus experts, over the last year the Ukrainians spent twice more in the Net than in the previous year – approximately $1,5-2 bln. As Mikhail Rokhmaniuk, the owner of Komod.ua gift shop, says that a couple of years ago consumers mostly purchased just one thing, but nowadays 60% of clients purchase two product units and even more.
According to the survey of GfK in Ukraine only 8,5% of population make purchases in the Net. Taking into consideration the level of popularity of Internet shops it has been stated that the country occupies the second-to-last place among the countries of Eastern and Central Europe, considerably giving way to the Czech Republic with its 54% of users who make purchases in the Net.
More and more shops are opening their representative offices throughout the country. For example, over the last year FotoMag opened 13 out of their 20 branches in the regions. Aleksandr Lozitskiy, General Director of FotoMag, says that the cities with more than 100.000-200.000 inhabitants, for example Yenakievo or Kamenets-Podolskiy, are considered the most attractive.
