The experts of e-commerce market in UA.net have shared their impressions about the outgoing year and anticipate what 2012 has in stock for e-commerce.
In 2011 Ukrainian e-commerce market met a sufficient growth. “We estimated it basing on the growth of the budgets of our clients who worked in e-commerce sphere, - Dmitrii Sholomko, Director of Google in Ukraine admitted. – Due to this in 2011 Google saw Ukraine as one of the most fast-growing countries of the world. Still, we do not operate exact figures – it would be better if specialized investigational companies presented their own evaluations”.
Alexei Avdei, the Head of “Yandex.Market” service also confirms the fact of growth. “We do not have data on the whole market, but, for instance, monthly audience of “Yandex.Market” in Ukraine has grown by 140% (according to data of Gemius research held in the period from October 2010 till October 2011)”, - Alexei Avdei tells. The number of Ukrainian shops, connected to the Market increased from 232 to 475. According to the data of “Yandex key words statistics” service, “internet-shop” phrase, inserted to search lines by Ukrainians, appeared more frequently (by 20%). It means that interest towards e-purchases grew faster than the number of UA.net users.
As it was noticed by “Yandex.Market”, clothing and footwear segments, as well as toys and household appliances grew sufficiently last year. Many of new e-customers start their acquaintances with e-shopping exactly from these categories of goods.
In opinion of Vladislav Flax, Director of OWOX, the clothing segment faced growth mainly due to western companies, which took decisions to invest in this segment and enter the market. Dmitrii Sholomko (Google in Ukraine) adheres to the same point of view: if as long ago as last year the only goods that were sold like hot cakes were gadgets and electronic appliances, now, for example, clothing is sold very well.
Concerning so-called “non-cash” ways of payment Flax thinks, that frequency of their use did not grow last year. “Users still have little opportunities to qualitatively make “non-cash” payments. Unfortunately, the state of the things remains all the same and general legislative decisions are needed”, - Dmitrii Sholomko (Google in Ukraine) added.
In 2012 experts expect opening of big e-shops that would work in the segment of clothes and footwear, toys and household appliances.
